The
Swiss hotel industry enjoys an excellent international reputation. To a
large extent, this is due to the work carried out daily in
establishments affiliated with the Swiss Hotel Schools Association. In
this respect the coherent work carried out by the Swiss Hotel Schools
Association complements the efforts made by the Swiss Authorities. Both
strive to guarantee a high qualify of professionalism.
ASEH’s
responsibility is to ensure professional and academic quality standards
for Swiss hotel schools, and it therefore controls all member schools
on a regular basis in accordance with the standards of accreditation.
Graduates
of the BA (Hons) programme at IHTTI receive Swiss and British
awards. The BA (Hons) degree is awarded by the University of
Derby, a leading UK university, which was recently ranked by the
Guardian newspaper as being in the top five British Universities for
hospitality and tourism and shortlisted for University of the Year in
2007 by Times Higher.
Graduates of the 3rd year receive a Swiss Higher Diploma in International Hotel and Tourism Management. This diploma is recognized by the Canton and Republic of Neuchâtel, Switzerland. A representative of the the Canton is present during final exams and graduation.
Serving
the hospitality industry for nearly a century, AH&LA is the sole
national association representing all sectors and stakeholders in the
lodging industry, including individual hotel property members, hotel
companies, student and faculty members, and industry suppliers.
Headquartered
in Washington, D.C., AH&LA provides members with national advocacy
on Capitol Hill, public relations and image management, education,
research and information, and other value-added services to provide
bottom line savings and ensure a positive business climate for the
lodging industry.
Due
to an official agreement with AH&LA, students have the option of
receiving the AH&LA Hospitality Management Diploma and module
certificates in addition to the Swiss Higher Diploma.
CHRIE - Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education
Founded
in 1946, the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and
Institutional Education is the global advocate of hospitality and
tourism education for schools, colleges, and universities offering
programs in hotel and restaurant management, foodservice management and
culinary arts.
In recent years, International CHRIE's focus has expanded and its
mission statement has evolved, making it a marketplace for facilitating
exchanges of information, ideas, research, products and services
related to education, training and resource development for the
hospitality and tourism industry (food, lodging, recreation and travel
services). Serving as the hospitality and tourism education network, we
strive to unite educators, industry executives and associations.

The
European Council on Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Education is
the official federation for Europe, the Mediterranean Basin and Africa
of International CHRIE, the leading international organisation that
supports education and training for the world's largest industry.
EURO-CHRIE
represents 169 International CHRIE members. The European Federation
brings together educators from hospitality & tourism management
schools and universities into a global network in close co-operation
with industry representatives. Under the CHRIE umbrella, both education
and industry combine their efforts to shape the future of hospitality
& tourism.
HCIMA - Hotel & Catering International Management Association
The
Institute of Hospitality is the professional body for managers – and
aspiring managers – working in the hospitality, leisure and tourism
industries.
With
over 10,000 members in the UK, and in more than 100 countries
worldwide, we aim to offer support to our members throughout their
careers in the industry.
The
Institute is managed as an educational charity, with its primary
purpose being "to promote the highest professional standards of
management and education in the international hospitality, leisure and
tourism industries”. We exist to benefit members in their professional
and career development, while continuing to improve industry sector
standards.
The
Royal Society for Public Health is an independent, multi-disciplinary
organisation, dedicated to the promotion and protection of collective human
health and well-being.
Through
advocacy, mediation, empowerment, knowledge and practice we advise on policy
development, provide education and training services, encourage scientific
research, disseminate information and certify products, training centres and
processes.
AIESTInternational Association of Scientific Experts in Tourism
AIEST is an international scientific
society of a kind which may be found in other scientific fields. Its aims as
they were outlined and laid down at the outset and drawn up in Article 3 of the
By-laws, have proved themselves and remained unchanged in that form to this
day. In accordance with them the Association endeavours to
foster friendly relations among
its members;
to promote scientific activity
on the part of its members, in particular by developing personal contacts,
providing documentation and facilitating exchange of views and experience;
to support the activity of
scientific institutes of tourism, or other centres of research and
education specializing in tourism, and to develop relations between them,
as well as between them and the members of the Association;
to organize and to cooperate in
congresses and other meetings and courses on tourism of a scientific
nature.
Therefore, AIEST may be considered as being the international catalyst of
scientific activities in tourism. The Association does not itself directly
engage in tourism research and education, but it endeavours to foster them as
much as possible within the limits of its possibilities and those of existing
institutions.
IH&RAInternational Hotel and Restaurant Association
IH&RA
– the International Hotel & Restaurant Association – is the only global
business organization representing the hospitality industry worldwide.
Officially recognized by the United Nations, IH&RA monitors and lobbies all
international agencies on behalf of this industry, estimated to comprise
300,000 hotels and 8 million restaurants, employ 60 million people and
contribute 950 billion USD annually to the global economy.
The
IH&RA is run on a not-for-profit basis with a team led by a Director
General. It is governed by a General Assembly and a Board of Directors.
For more than a century, the Swiss
Hotel Association has set the standards in hotel management and education for
the rest of the world to follow.
Founded in 1882, the SHA is the official organisation of the hotel industry in
Switzerland and in 1893 it opened the world’s first hotel training school.
The Swiss Federation of Private Schools (SFPS) comprises 260
schools, including some of the most significant and oldest in the country.
About 100'000 pupils, students and apprentices from Switzerland and from more
than one hundred other countries attend Swiss private schools.
